Apple, AT&T plan 3G iPhone for 2008
Marketwatch

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Apple Inc. and AT&T Inc. plan to offer a version of the iPhone that operates on 3G networks sometime in 2008, according to remarks made by AT&T Chief Executive Randall Stephenson on Wednesday. The new phone is meant to address the current problem of 3G chips draining the iPhone's battery too quickly.

See this is one reason why I'm not that big on purchasing tech items. Before you know it a new item is on the shelves and the one you bought a month ago doesn't work. This is one way for Apple to keep up sales after the holiday season.
